Snicker Doodles Recipe: How to Make It

Ingredients (Makes 2 dozen)

  • 1/2 cup shortening 
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar 
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tbsp vanilla 
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda 
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar 
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon 
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar 

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 
  2. Cream together the shortening and sugar in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer. 
  3. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well. 
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar and mix well. 
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. 
  6. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. 
  7. In a small bowl, mix together 1 tbsp of cinnamon and 3 tbsp of sugar. 
  8. Roll the dough balls into the cinnamon and sugar mixture. 
  9. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are golden. 
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
