Scotch Eggs Recipe: How to Make It

Ingredients (4 servings) 

  • 9 eggs 
  • 9 oz. (400 g) sausage meat 
  • ½ c (50 g) breadcrumbs 
  • 2 tsp parsley 
  • Oil to fry in 


  1. First boil 8 eggs in hot water until hard. Allow to cool and peel. 
  2. Mix the sausage meat and the parsley. Divide into eight portions and with your hand press flat on the counter. For each serving, fully cover one egg with ground meat. 
  3. Prepare two deep plates. Beat the remaining egg in one plate. Add the breadcrumbs to the other plate. First coat the hardboiled eggs in egg, then the breadcrumbs. 
  4. Heat the oil in a pot or deep fryer and deep fry the Scotch Eggs for approx. 8 – 10 minutes. Place on paper towel to remove grease and serve warm.
