Should you buy HexClad Cookware? Is it worth your money or a scam?
If you are reading this HexClad Cookware review, chances are you have watched the ads for HexClad Cookware and wonder if it really delivers what it claims.
Frying pans, especially those made of non-stick material or stainless steel, are standard in the modern kitchen.
Although both types of cookware have their advantages, they also have their disadvantages. HexClad is a relatively new type of hybrid cookware that features a non-stick surface that will not scratch or wear like traditional non-stick coatings. Similar to stainless steel and cast iron, it can generate extremely high temperatures on its surface.
The claims made for HexClad frying pans are impressive, and if they are true, you will never have to buy another pan.
Over the past few weeks, I have done thorough research about the HexClad Cookware to help you make an informed decision. I can tell you everything you need to know before you buy.
At the end of this review, I will also tell you the best alternative of HexClad Cookware so that you can enjoy the same benefit at a lower cost.
In this HexClad Cookware review, I’ll cover the following topics to assist you in making an informed decision:
What is HexClad Cookware?
HexClad is the first cookware brand to combine a PFOA-free non-stick coating with honeycomb laser-engraved stainless steel. The non-stick coating is recessed in the center of the honeycomb shape and the stainless steel lines are slightly raised. The steel exterior is designed to provide high surface heat when searing steaks, while protecting the nonstick interior from knives and other potential wear sources.
Most cookware, including HexClad, is made with an aluminum core because it is lightweight and conducts heat well. However, a HexClad 10-inch skillet weighs 3 pounds, more than double the weight of a typical nonstick skillet or a three-ply stainless steel skillet, which typically weighs about 2 pounds.
Although Hexclad makes a wide range of cookware, I only had the opportunity to try out the frying pan. The contoured handle that stays cool adds comfort to an otherwise sturdy frying pan. It is heat resistant up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and can be put in the dishwasher without worry.
Hexclad vs. Stainless Steel
HexClad’s ability to generate surface heat and sear meat and vegetables will determine whether or not it can replace stainless steel (or cast iron)
For several meals, I used the HexClad pan alongside a three-layer stainless steel pan from All-Clad. While the HexClad pan performed better than a regular nonstick pan, which is generally not ideal for sautéing, it still could not match the performance of a high-quality stainless steel pan.
For this experiment, I prepared two identical sausage patties and placed them oil side down on two separate pans. For two minutes per side, I grilled them. The crust produced by the stainless steel pan can be seen much better in the photo below
This is largely true of the high temperature searing I did in the HexClad pan as well.
HexClad vs. Nonstick
I have also used the HexClad to prepare a number of dishes that normally require a non-stick pan. Scrambled eggs are a popular option because they do not stick to the pan. Eggs prepared in a stainless pan usually need to be scrubbed afterwards, but in a good nonstick pan they should come right off.
Using low heat and a teaspoon of melted butter, I scrambled an egg in both the Hexclad and an OXO nonstick pan. The HexClad pan was just as effective as the non-stick pan this time. After setting, the egg moved smoothly and easily, and it came off completely when it was done cooking.
Easier to clean than stainless
Similar to Teflon or nonstick, HexClad makes cleaning a breeze, even though it does not burn as well as stainless steel. Scrubbing with a sponge and some warm water was sufficient.
More durable than nonstick
HexClad also boasts that it can be used with metal utensils without damaging the surface, which is one of the main causes of wear and tear on a nonstick pan
After a month of use, I found no signs of chipping or wear on the HexClad’s protective nonstick coating. Even after repeated blows with a metal spatula, the raised steel shields have done their job of protecting the non-stick coating.
Benefits of HexClad Cookware
1. Product Quality is acceptable
HexClad Cookware’s product quality is satisfactory. It’s well-designed and serves its purpose well. Some customers may, however, receive defective products from them. As a result, I would recommend that HexClad Cookware inspect the products before shipping them to customers. Customers are less likely to receive subpar or defective products as a result of this.
2. Customer Service is Available
Shopping in stores that provide poor customer service is extremely inconvenient. As a result, it’s critical to shop at stores that at the very least provide a phone number and an email address for after-sales service.
HexClad Cookware’s customer service is adequate but not exceptional. You may contact them if you have any questions or concerns about your order, but it may take more than 48 hours to receive a response. This is not ideal, especially in some emergency situations.
3. HexClad Cookware meets the product description
Many stores use exaggerated marketing tactics in their advertisements to increase sales. This does not always imply that the product is a scam.
HexClad Cookware’s advertisements are quite impressive and can catch the attention of customers. Some may believe they are overhyped. However, you cannot conclude that it is a scam because HexClad Cookware does, to some extent, deliver on its promises.
4. Door-to-door Delivery
Many people prefer to shop online because it saves them time. Simply place an order and wait for the product to arrive. You are not required to drive to a physical store to obtain the product.
HexClad Cookware is an online retailer that offers door-to-door delivery. Even if you live in a remote location, you can still purchase from HexClad Cookware.
5. Easy to Place an Order
HexClad Cookware’s website design is appealing. It is very simple for people to place an order. Simply click the “add to cart” button and proceed to the payment page with your credit card. Unlike a physical store, HexClad Cookware’s website accepts orders 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
HexClad Cookware Cons and Complaints
1. HexClad Cookware is Overpriced
HexClad Cookware is not inexpensive. Many people complain that it is too expensive. Because the quality of HexClad Cookware is not superior to that of other similar products, the higher price is not justified.
You will be able to find a similar or identical product at a lower cost elsewhere. Let me tell you where at the end of this HexClad Cookware review.
2. Inefficient logistics
HexClad Cookware is a small company with insufficient capital to invest in logistics. They are forced to rely on inefficient third-party logistics. They have minimal control over the shipping speed.
Therefore, you may see a lot of customer complaints about their slow delivery. If you want fast shipping, go with a large marketplace like Amazon. Unlike HexClad Cookware, Amazon can ship products in a matter of days.
3. HexClad Cookware Has Few Positive Reviews
I looked for positive HexClad Cookware reviews but came up empty-handed. While the product is excellent, customers may be dissatisfied with their service.
Because HexClad Cookware is a small company, you should not expect them to provide world-class service. It is preferable to purchase from a large marketplace such as Amazon if you want to ensure good after-sales service. There is much better customer protection there.
4. HexClad Cookware does not offer unconditional refunds
HexClad Cookware does not always issue refunds to customers. Although there is a refund policy, HexClad Cookware has complete discretion over whether or not to issue refunds.
Some customers may find it unjust. However, this is a disadvantage when purchasing from an independent online store. Personally, I prefer purchasing from marketplaces such as Amazon, where the refund policy is reasonable. When requesting a refund, you will have Amazon’s backup.
5. Difficult to Return the Product
If you don’t like HexClad Cookware, it’s difficult to return it to them. You would be responsible for the shipping costs.
That is why I dislike shopping at independent stores. If you want to avoid this problem, I recommend purchasing from Amazon. If you don’t like the product, you can easily return it. Later, I’ll tell you where you can get a similar or identical product to HexClad Cookware on Amazon.
6. Some Good Reviews are Written by HexClad Cookware’s Affiliates
You probably have found some other reviews of HexClad Cookware and all of them are saying good words.
But some of them are actually paid to write, meaning they are sponsored posts. Therefore, their words are often biased and not trustworthy. Those reviews are simply sales pages and do not tell you the downsides of HexClad Cookware.
By common sense, should you trust someone who has a conflict of interest that receives huge compensation by “reviewing” HexClad Cookware? Probably not. They are not reviewing, but selling!
Therefore, I recommend reading the reviews of those written by the non-affiliates of HexClad Cookware.
7. HexClad Cookware Spent a Lot of Budgets on Advertising
HexClad Cookware spends a lot of money on advertisements. There is nothing wrong with marketing their products via paid advertisements.
But the problem is how can they make a profit with huge marketing costs? It’s common sense that HexClad Cookware passes the costs to customers. So that explains why HexClad Cookware is more expensive than other similar products you can find on Amazon. The higher price doesn’t mean their quality is better. They are just trying to cover their marketing costs.
As a smart customer, you should only pay for the quality of the product, but not the marketing costs of the product. That’s why I recommend purchasing from a large marketplace like Amazon, which I will tell you more about later.
Why Do You Need HexClad Cookware?
Contrary to advertising claims, HexClad did a poor job of searing. Still, searing meat, fish, and vegetables turns out better than most other non-stick frying pans
But it is the most durable non-stick frying pan you can find. Compared to other types of cookware for the stove, non-stick pans wear out the fastest. You can try to maintain the non-stick properties of the surface by not using metal utensils, but eventually it will wear down and lose its smoothness.
HexClad is amazingly durable and will likely last you years longer than regular nonstick coatings, as it loosens even the stickiest foods as well as any nonstick pan. If you prefer to cook with non-stick frequently, or if you are particularly hard on your pans and wear them out quickly, you will not have to buy new pans as often with HexClad.
If you regularly make crepes and pancakes, invest in a HexClad 12-inch griddle ($139), as it will release your morning delights better and will not be damaged by metal spatulas.
Is HexClad Cookware a scam?
I cannot say HexClad Cookware is a scam for legal reasons. I researched them thoroughly, including their social media pages, review sites, forums, and so on. And while I see nothing suspicious about their business, I cannot find any verified positive reviews.
If HexClad Cookware is a genuine and well-established company offering high-quality products, you should be able to find numerous positive customer reviews about them online.
But, strangely, I can’t find any. This could be due to the company’s service quality rather than its product quality. As a result, I have less faith in them. That’s why I looked for a similar or identical product on Amazon for you. Let me elaborate later.
How to Contact HexClad Cookware’s Customer Service?
HexClad Cookware does not have great customer service. It may take more than 48 hours to get a response from them. Here are the contact details:
